Bregal Unternehmerkapital becomes majority shareholder in Swiss company Kunststoff Schwanden

As part of a succession arrangement, Bregal Unternehmerkapital is now the new majority shareholder in Kunststoff Schwanden AG. The transaction has already completed. The Swiss-based company is the largest employer in the canton of Glarus, with more than 500 employees. It is a successful manufacturer of complex plastic parts and components used in packaging, technical parts, household appliances and automobile technology.

The previous owner, Albert Kiener – whose forebears laid the foundations for the company in 1883 – will retain a minority stake in Kunststoff Schwanden. André Bermann (CEO) and Martin Züger (CFO) will also acquire shares, as will other senior managers.

In keeping with our partnership approach to investment, we will now work with Albert Kiener and senior management on the long-term development of Kunststoff Schwanden and expansion of its customer base in all key segments. We will seek to leverage the potential for growth in markets such as China and Mexico, which play a major role in global sourcing, especially for leading automotive manufacturers. We see huge potential for positive development and will therefore fully commit our extensive expertise around growth promotion and business succession in mid-sized companies. We very much look forward to this new collaboration, which will also involve our international network of industry experts and wide experience in the automotive segment.
