Transaction Update: Bregal Unternehmerkapital acquires Binder Group

Hans and Ottmar Binder, owners of the Binder Group, have decided to sell their company to Bregal Unternehmerkapital. The Binder Group is a leading Tier 1 supplier of high-quality aluminium trim parts for the exterior of cars. Bregal Unternehmerkapital intends to future-proof the Binder Group by developing the company's strong growth potential, expanding its international footprint and creating more efficient administrative and management structures.

In addition to Bregal’s proven network of senior managers and industry experts and long-term approach to investment, the crucial factor in this decision was the significant automotive expertise available at Bregal Unternehmerkapital. In 2007, for example, funds advised by Bregal acquired Mirror Controls International, the world market leader in drive units for door mirrors; Bregal held these shares until 2012. The investments held by funds advised by Bregal also currently include Novem, a leading supplier of trim parts and decorative components for vehicle interiors.

Established in 1955, the Binder Group supplies car manufacturers such as VW, Audi, Mercedes and GM. The company mainly manufactures aluminium roof rails and trim strips, a segment in which it is regarded as technology and innovation leader. Binder has around 1,400 employees across three locations in Germany, including its headquarters in Böhmenkirch-Heidhöfe (Baden-Württemberg), and an assembly plant in Mexico.

We look forward to providing the Binder Group with sustained long-term support and helping the company to build on its existing success.
